Guardian Bells Good Luck Charms

I never really believed in a rabbit’s foot for good luck. Think about it… losing a foot wasn’t very good luck for the rabbit.

guardian-bell-hearts-thoughtful-gift-ideasOn the other hand, I always liked the saying, “Find a penny pick it up, for all day long you’ll have good luck.”

After reading about the legend of the tiny Guardian Bell’s good luck charm, I wanted one for myself. Plus, it has such a sweet ring!

Legend has it that the use of bells as a channel for positive energy dates back to antiquity.

Across cultures, continents and religions, bells have been rung to banish evil spirits.

Annual Birthday Adventure

My husband asked,”Are we doing anything for my sister this year?” I replied, “You mean the 2nd Annual Birthday Adventure?”

He smiled. I only had three weeks to come up with an idea.

nnual-birthday-adventure-convertible-mustang-thoughtful-gift-ideaLast year, I planned a Birthday Adventure with Adult Siblings for Randy and his brother to celebrate their sister’s birthday. It was so much fun Randy wanted to do it again.

Randy and I enjoy taking scenic Route 66 road trips to have breakfast or lunch and then browse through antique and boutique shops in small town America.

Light bulb moment!

Unforgettable Annual Birthday Experience

Plan a Route 66 Birthday Adventure by driving on the Mother Road in a convertible car.

Better yet make it a Mustang convertible! A red one!

My plans were to rent a convertible but in telling friends of the adventure, I was given an opportunity to borrow one!    Continue Reading

Randy and I enjoy exploring the state of Oklahoma for “mom and pop” restaurants. The food reminds us of “grandma’s cookin!”

Bryan and Janiece gave us an Oklahoma Shaped Grass Doormat to commemorate our travel adventures.

Such a thoughtful gift! And… it’s made in Oklahoma! We love that! Continue Reading

Massage Gift Package

What is better than a massage? A package of two or more massages!

massage-package-massage-college-thoughtful-gift-ideaI recently received a massage gift package, and for people like me who truly enjoy them, it’s a perfect gift idea.

It’s soooo relaxing!

Massages relieve stress, pains and muscle tension, and who doesn’t want to get rid of that yucky stuff?

Many massage clinics offer specials in packs of two, five, ten or more. Continue Reading

Moisturizing Donkey Milk Soap

My husband and I enjoy going out for breakfast on Saturday mornings. Lately, we have ventured to nearby small towns like Luther, OK.

We also like to shop and support local businesses. We stopped in the Urban Sixty-Six store. It’s a darling boutique with lots of unique gifts.

A display of natural and organic donkey milk soap called Dulce de Donké caught my attention. I was intrigued while reading about its beauty benefits and that it’s all the rage in European skincare. Continue Reading

Thoughtful Second Marriage Wedding Gift

When my friend announced she would be saying “I do” for the second time, I wanted to give her a special wedding gift.

wedding-photo-silhouette-thoughtful-gift-ideaTraditional gifts such as dishes, towels and kitchen appliances are usually not needed in a second marriage.

I had the perfect opportunity to give a creative and thoughtful wedding gift!

Mike and Teresa were getting married on a beach in Florida and hosting a reception later for family and friends. This gave me time to do a little research…

Teresa posted on Facebook pictures of their beach wedding, and it sparked a gift idea.wedding-silhouette-second-time-around-thoughtful-gift-idea

I had seen custom couple silhouette portraits on Etsy.com, and thought I would create my own using one of Teresa’s wedding photos. I picked one of them in a unique pose.

Easy to Read Oversized Watch

I haven’t worn a watch in years. One reason, I can check my cell phone for the time. The other reason, my age!

When I got older, I always required my reading glasses to see the time. easy-to-read-oversized-watches-thoughtful-gift-ideaThe thought of purchasing an oversized watch just never crossed my mind.

Oversized Watch Face

My friend, Susan, gave me a beautiful rhinestone Betsey Johnson oversized watch for my birthday. She knows I love bling!

I cannot believe how much I enjoy wearing a watch again.

I love the HUGE NUMBERS because I can see them so clearly!

Finding New Homes for Old Photos, Post Cards, Letters & Mementos

- - $20 or Less, Family

When people pass away, they leave behind their possessions which include old photos, post cards, letters and mementos. When it’s you who has to sort through it all after a parent, grandparent or siblings dies, it can be overwhelming.

finding-new-homes-old-photos-treasured-memories-thoughtful-gift-ideaMy mother-in-law broke her hip and we had to move her to a memory care nursing center. I am going through her keepsake photos and some of them she has kept for 70+ years.

I’ve done this before with my grandmother’s, mother’s and brother’s things after they passed away. It’s definitely hard and emotional.

I felt if they held on to it for so many years, then it must have been a sweet memory or a special place in their heart. I just couldn’t throw them in the trash! Continue Reading

Sun Protection UPF Clothing

To celebrate my husband’s 67th birthday (oh my, I can remember when he turned 17), we took a vacation to Big Cedar Lodge and Table Rock Lake in Missouri for a fishing trip.

sun-protection-clothing-thoughtful-gift-ideaOn our trip, we visited the granddaddy of all outdoor stores – Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, Missouri. Did you know it’s Missouri’s number one tourist destination?

We were in the store for hours looking at boats, motors, fishing gear, seven aquariums, alligators, and finally clothes.

(Now I know how he felt after all these years shopping with me. Bless his heart!) Continue Reading
