iFLY Indoor Skydiving

I’ve always wanted to skydive but jumping out of an airplane just didn’t make a lot of sense the older I became.

Indoor Skydiving

iFLY is indoor skydiving that simulates true free fall conditions in a vertical wind tunnel.

Their motto of “It’s where the dream of flight becomes a reality” really happened for me!

At age 65 I’m no spring chicken (a phrase my mother-in-law would say) but there have been lots of elderly people who have been brave enough to skydive.

I hoped the wind tunnel would help me decide if I was just satisfied doing a simulation or if I needed to do the real thing.

I arrived at 10 a.m. and I, along with several others in my class, watched a training video. The instructor gave additional training on hand signals because it’s so loud in the wind tunnel you can’t hear.

After our 15-20 minute training, we were given ear plugs, helmets, flight suits and prepared for our flight. Show time!

I was a little nervous. When it was my turn, I fell into the wind tunnel as if I was falling out of a plane.

AMAZING! FUN! I WAS SKYDIVING!

I could see my family grinning and giving me the thumbs up from the viewing area!

The instructor on the second flight took me to the top of the tunnel and back down a few times. Exhilarating is the only word to describe the experience!

I paid for two flights with each one lasting a little over one minute.

At the end of my flights, I was the only one to receive from the instructor a certificate as the MVF – Most Valuable Flyer!

I highly (no pun intended) recommend experiencing skydiving in a wind tunnel.

My plans are to return for more practice. Why? I really want to jump out of an airplane!

Aging doesn’t change the inner thrill of being adventurous.
