Say It With Donuts

I donut know about you, but I love this gift idea!

custom-message-donuts-doughnuts-gift

It’s a cute, fun and non-traditional way to celebrate, appreciate or congratulate a person or group! I’m talking about donuts in the shapes of letters so they spell out a message – whatever you want to say.

This edible gift idea is really popular with kids on their birthdays. I love that different words can be decorated to look totally different. Who knew donuts could be so fancy!

You could even surprise them with the box of donuts at school so they can share the donuts with the whole class. Kids will remember Custom Message Donuts over cupcakes any day. And your child holding the big box of donuts will make for such a cute picture!

Adults would love these too. Imagine their face when they find a big box on their desk at work and open it to see what’s inside. It’s only morning and you’ve already made their day! How very thoughtful of you.

Say Thank You With Merci European Chocolates

I needed to say thank you to someone who did me a great favor but I had no idea who they were.

merci-european-chocolates-thoughtful-gift-ideaLet me start at the beginning. My long time friends, Curtis and Susan, and my husband and I made a pact to at least once a month spend a Saturday together by visiting TravelOK.com recommended restaurants across the state of Oklahoma.

The drive would give us time to visit and our destination would be a delicious meal.

Our first adventure was to check out Click’s Steakhouse in Pawnee, Oklahoma – population 2,179. The restaurant is known for its delicious steaks and amazing homemade pies. We arrived a few minutes prior to opening at 11 a.m. and already a line was forming at the door. Continue Reading

Amazing Gift of Coconut Oil

I received an amazing gift of coconut oil that really is many gifts in one! I was so surprised by the usefulness of this product.

Friends – A spoon of Sharing

For my birthday, my friend, Janet, gave me a jar of Dr. Bronner’s Magic “All-One!” Fair Trade & Organic Coconut Oil and paired it with a cute decorative teaspoon.

Over the years, I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on beauty products. With this gift, I discovered all I really needed was coconut oil.

Let Them Drive a Clean & Shiny Car | Car Wash Gift Card

No one wants to own that filthy car in the parking lot that just begs people to draw “Wash Me” on it. Whether someone’s a car enthusiast or not, we all like to drive a clean and shiny car.

clean-shiny-car-wash-gift-cardFor me, I’m good about keeping the outside of my car clean during the summer when I don’t mind washing it in my driveway or at the self-service car wash.

But in the winter, fuhgeddaboudit. It’s too cold for me to care!

Then there’s my husband, who practically washes his car once every week. If he goes longer than two weeks, it really starts to bug him.

Even though we don’t have the exact same cleanliness standards when it comes to our cars, my husband and I would both enjoy receiving the same gift – a gift card to use for things like car washes, auto detailing and car waxes. (Psst… don’t tell my husband but he’s getting one for Valentine’s Day!)

It’s the perfect gift for him and the perfect gift for her!

Kids Color-In Thank You Cards

- - Thank You

Even though toddlers can’t write thank you cards for their gifts, they do have the ability to color.

kids-color-in-thank-you-cards-toddlersColor-in thank you cards allow young children to use their artistic abilities to show their appreciation using markers, crayons, colored pencils or paint.

Gift givers will enjoy opening their thank you card and seeing your child’s artwork on the cover. If it’s pretty, it will bring a smile to their face. It if it’s messy, well they’ll get a good chuckle from it!

My three-year old son used markers to color his thank you cards. Although he won’t be earning any awards for coloring in between the lines any time soon, each card is his own original work of art which made them special. And I think much better than store-bought cards!

The Giving Plate | A Heartwarming Tradition

No one likes to show up to a social gathering empty handed. After all, the more food the merrier!

Make a lasting impression by giving the host or hostess a gift called “The Giving Plate.”

The heartwarming tradition of The Giving Plate is that you bake a treat and present it to someone on the plate. The recipient could be a friend, family member, church member, neighbor, teacher or co-worker. Once the treat is gone, it’s time for the gift recipient to pay it forward by passing The Giving Plate to someone new.

The Giving Plate makes for an especially touching gift during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

You can find a variety of styles of The Giving Plate on Amazon.com or you can find other designs on Etsy.com. If you’re artsy, you can make your own using food-safe porcelain markers or paint pens on a blank plate or platter.

The Giving Plate I like contains this special message that explains the tradition in a beautiful poem.

The Giving Plate

This plate belongs to everyone
wherever it may go… with each new sharing
of its gift, the love and blessings grow,
So fill it up and pass it on to
family and to friends… to start
the circle one more time,
love’s journey never ends.

Frame the Perfect Quote for the Occasion

When someone else’s words say it all or say it better than you ever could, you’ve found the perfect quote to use for this gift idea.

frame-perfect-quote-occasion-thoughtful-gift

This powerful quote says so much about my mentor and her accomplishment.

When my mentor, Valerie, achieved a major milestone in her business by officially franchising it, I wanted to give her a thoughtful gift to say, “Congratulations!

I was so impressed by her vision and her tenacity to see her vision through until it became reality. And she did it despite the naysayers. She inspires me with her actions.

I didn’t know quite what to give her as a gift until I came across this quote, “She believed she could, so she did.”

It summarized her accomplishment so well – the perfect quote!

Saying Thank You With a Short Video

When more than 20 of my friends and family helped me raise $1,500 for the Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma’s storm shelter campaign, I was extremely grateful.

thank-you-short-video-sunburst-giftsTheir donations will ensure the safety of girls and volunteers at Camp E-ko-wah during tornadoes and other severe weather.

As part of the campaign, their generous support also pushed me to go Over the Edge – literally! – by rappelling 16 stories down the side of a skyscraper in Oklahoma City. It’s an experience I will never forget.

Instead of writing thank you cards, I decided to record a personal message and combined it with photos and rappelling footage from my GoPro video camera. I put together a short thank you video with the intent of sharing my rappelling adventure and expressing my heartfelt gratitude.

Thank You Card Using Photo of Your Child

- - Thank You

Do you have a photo of your son or daughter that you know will get people to say, “Awwww… so cute!”?

thank-you-card-photo-child2-thoughtful-gift-idea

Glue a cute photo of your child to the front of a blank note card for a thoughtful thank you card!

That’s exactly what you’ll need for making this thank you card using a photo of your child.

When my son turned two years old, I wrote thank you cards to everyone who gave him a gift. Even though my son isn’t old enough to make or write his own thank you cards, I still wanted his thank you cards to be representative of him and his Oklahoma City Thunder basketball-themed birthday party.

I purchased blank note cards in the Thunder’s team colors, blue and orange, and made multiple 4X4 prints of a close-up photo I took of my son at his birthday party. In the photo, he is wearing his Thunder basketball jersey.

Not only is the photo adorable, but it will remind everyone of his birthday party!
