Back-to-School 3D Food Pencil Cases

I remember as kids the excitement of getting new Back-to-School clothes and school supplies.

3D-pizza-pencil-case-thoughtful-gift-ideaMom enjoyed taking us shopping. Looking back I think she was like every parent, happy and ready for school to start!

Some of you may remember buying shoes at Payless where you could purchase two pairs for $5. That was their big campaign slogan a long long time ago.

Purchasing three-ring binders, notebook paper, spiral notebooks, #2 pencils, Bic pens and folders with pictures of a popular TV show were the main school supply staples of the baby boom era during which I grew up.

I’ve gotta tell you, there’s a lot more fun things to choose from now! I found a back-to-school item that will keep things organized AND that kids will think is cool – a 3D Food Pencil Case!

You can buy pencil cases that look like pizzas, ice cream sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream cones, bagels, bananas, pita breads, and cookies to mention a few.  Sorry these items are no longer available. You can still get cute food pencil cases through Amazon.com

Create Imagination with a Kids Bed Tent

Remember on rainy days when you were a kid making “forts” or “tents” out of blankets draped over furniture?

play-bed-tent-thoughtful-gift-idea

Fits twin or double size mattress.

My brothers and I had so much fun playing in the dark, using our flashlights, peeking out to see what our mother was doing, imagining we were lost at sea or lost in the wilderness, pretending we were cooking food on a campfire while eating snacks from the refrigerator, and sometimes coloring for hours in our very own hideout!

Children love having their own play space to let their imaginations run wild. But unlike a blanket fort, I have a gift idea that won’t mess up or rearrange your living room!

Encourage imaginative play by giving a child a Kids Bed Tent. They come in sizes that fit a twin or double mattress.

Kids Bed Tents can also be placed on the floor so you can take them anywhere in the house or even outside.

Cookie Monster in a Cookie Jar

My niece loves stuffed animals that sing, talk or play music and I wanted to give her fancy chocolate chip cookies for her birthday. Hmmm? How to combine the two as a gift?

Cookie-Monster-in-cookie-jar-thoughtful-gift-ideaWho likes chocolate chip cookies more than anyone else? Cookie Monster, of course! “Me want cookie!”, “Me eat cookie!”, and “Om nom nom nom” said the Cookie Monster through a mouth full of cookies.

I found the perfect Cookie Monster stuffed animal singing a song by counting from one to 20 cookies. For a thoughtful twist, I purchased a large cookie jar so he would fit inside. Cookie Monster in a Cookie Jar!

We do not want Cookie Monster eating the fancy cookies so I placed the cookies outside the jar. Cute! Huh?

This was the centerpiece for Whitney’s birthday party. It was a hit and everyone loved choosing their own cookie.

Looking for that unusual gift that would be perceived as cool, fun and something no one else would have? I found it. A Super Bungee Chair by Bunjo!

Safety LED Lights Keep Children Visible on Halloween Night

- - $20 or Less, Kids

httpvh://youtu.be/R1u007zk5NI

When the sun goes down and sky turns black, the real thrills and chills of Halloween begin. I love a good scare and that’s why I pay people to scare me… at haunted houses.

On the other hand, I hate a bad scare – like a car almost running over your child while trick-or-treating because his dark-colored costume made him hard to see. Halloween is supposed to be scary, but the thought of something like that happening to my child is terrifying and sends chills up my spine!

safety-LED-lights-halloween2-thoughtful-gift-ideaAccording to SafeKids.org, children on average are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year.

Let’s be realistic, kids won’t be the ones to think about their own safety on Halloween night, so it’s up to us adults to make sure they stay visible to cars as they walk up and down the neighborhood streets trick-or-treating.

Parents and family members can make sure this happens with this thoughtful gift idea for HalloweenSafety LED Lights that blink and come in different colors and shapes so kids will think it’s cool and fun to wear.

Decorated Number Birthday Candles

- - $20 or Less, Birthday

Sometimes all it takes is some gold paint and rhinestones to take something from childish to stylish!

decorated-number-birthday-candles4-thoughtful-gift-ideaAt the store, all of the birthday candles for sale look childish, especially the number birthday candles. No one over the age of 10 would actually want one on their birthday cake.

Unless… you gave those number birthday candles a make-over like I did!

For Queen Darlene’s 62nd birthday, I bought number birthday candles in the shape of a 6 and a 2 from the dollar store and blinged them up. Saying that Queen Darlene loves bling would actually be an understatement!

I used two items to transform the number birthday candles:

  • Gold metallic dimensional fabric paint (Also known as “puff paint” in the 80s.)
  • Rhinestones

Return with Honor – The Purpose of Life – To Make a Difference!

A powerful quote to live by and an important life lesson to teach children and grandchildren.

The Lillard boys – Joe, Sam and Luke are amazing kids! They are five, seven and 11 years old. Their grandfather, Dick, is the Chairman of where I work. Not only is he my boss, he and his family have become my precious friends.

Return-with-Honor-Plaque-gift-idea-sunburst-giftsThis year was the first time all three boys traveled on a business trip together with grandparents and parents to Washington, D.C. to meet with Oklahoma’s congressional delegation.

We scheduled all day meetings and the boys were troopers going from building to building, meeting to meeting and sometimes waiting long periods of time. They were respectful when they met with congressional staff and the congressmen were extremely impressed! They looked so handsome in their suits!

Gather the Family to Celebrate in a Limousine!

Besides being fancy and having seats that face each other, do you know what else is awesome about a limousine? It holds a LOT of people!

large family riding inside limousine

The adults will have just as much fun as the kids riding around town in a limo!

My co-worker Sandra took advantage of all that space and coordinated an eight-hour limousine excursion for her parents, her brother, her other brother and his wife and their two sons, and her own husband, son, and herself. That’s a total of 10 people!

They had a lot of reasons to celebrate – Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, her father turning 75 years old, and her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary!

One by one the limousine picked them up at their houses and drove them to Bricktown in Oklahoma City. Sandra’s parents hadn’t been there in years, not since it’s revitalization into a popular dining and entertainment district.
