It’s so nice to ask a family member what they want for Christmas, and they know exactly what they want!

My son, Braden, is THE IT TECH GUY in our family. Since he also works in IT, he is always experiencing or researching the newest technology.

Thoughtful Techie Gift

His “wish list” was one item–Apple AirPods Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds.

On the job, Braden likes to listen to music while working on tech stuff (that’s as technical as I can get), and he must be available at all times to take incoming calls.

With a tap of the AirPods, he can switch from listening to music to answering his iPhone. AMAZING!

iFLY Indoor Skydiving

I’ve always wanted to skydive but jumping out of an airplane just didn’t make a lot of sense the older I became.

My sister-in-law gave me a gift certificate to iFLY so I could fulfill my dream closer to the ground!

Indoor Skydiving

iFLY is indoor skydiving that simulates true free fall conditions in a vertical wind tunnel.

Their motto of “It’s where the dream of flight becomes a reality” really happened for me!

At age 65 I’m no spring chicken (a phrase my mother-in-law would say) but there have been lots of elderly people who have been brave enough to skydive.

I hoped the wind tunnel would help me decide if I was just satisfied doing a simulation or if I needed to do the real thing. Continue Reading

Randy and I enjoy spending Sunday afternoons walking through beautiful homes with the newest floor plans, decorating trends, and unique furnishings.

I never really believed in a rabbit’s foot for good luck. Think about it… losing a foot wasn’t very good luck for the rabbit.

On the other hand, I always liked the saying, “Find a penny pick it up, for all day long you’ll have good luck.”

Annual Birthday Adventure

My husband asked,”Are we doing anything for my sister this year?” I replied, “You mean the 2nd Annual Birthday Adventure?”

He smiled. I only had three weeks to come up with an idea.

Last year, I planned a Birthday Adventure with Adult Siblings for Randy and his brother to celebrate their sister’s birthday. It was so much fun Randy wanted to do it again.

Randy and I enjoy taking scenic Route 66 road trips to have breakfast or lunch and then browse through antique and boutique shops in small town America.

I’m a parent with a twisted sense of humor, and I’m not the only one.

I think it’s actually healthy because I’m able to laugh at things that normally would drive someone crazy!

Years ago, my sister, Julia, and her family moved to the East coast away from her parents and siblings.

It’s tough living far apart from family, but especially hard when someone has young children. Finding child care is harder, and holidays can be a bit more lonely.

My sister though experienced tremendous luck! She found an older woman in her neighborhood who ran a small in-home day care. “Miss Pat” has cared for my sister’s three daughters for 14 years now, and they have a very special bond with her.

She loves those girls like her own granddaughters, and they love her like a grandmother.

“Miss Pat” and her husband “Mister Pete” have become family.

I haven’t worn a watch in years. One reason, I can check my cell phone for the time. The other reason, my age!

When I got older, I always required my reading glasses to see the time. The thought of purchasing an oversized watch just never crossed my mind.

My friend, Susan, gave me a beautiful rhinestone Betsey Johnson oversized watch for my birthday. She knows I love bling!

I cannot believe how much I enjoy wearing a watch again.
